1. Sleep Makes For A Better Day

No matter if you have a busy day or an easy day planned, sufficient sleep is key to getting the best out of your day.

It’s recommended by the National Sleep Foundation that the average adult should get anywhere between 7-9 hours of shut-eye per night. This is the amount of time that allows for your brain and body to rest, for your hormones to do a reset, and to properly recover from any type of workouts you may have done as well.

When you’re lacking in the sleep department, this can affect your whole day ahead. Lack of sleep can make you feel sluggish, weak, foggy, moody, tired and even more hungry!

If you have trouble falling asleep at night or getting to bed on time, try these quick tips:

  1. Turn off all screens 2 hours before bedtime
  2. Take a hot and relaxing bath or shower
  3. Do some light stretching such as a beginner yoga sequence for about 10 minutes
  4. Cut off all sugar and caffeine consumption by 4pm each day
  5. Read a real book, not one on your tablet as the blue light in tech devices can prevent your body from producing Melatonin.

After a long night’s sleep, your body is craving water. You may not realize it, but we lose quite a bit of water during sleep. This happens through respiration and even through perspiration for those whose sleeping environment can get rather warm.

Downing a glass of water first thing in the morning isn’t just good for hydrating the body, it can also boost your metabolism and aid in proper organ function.

A morning glass of water also helps to get things moving along when it comes to your bowels.

3. Eat A Healthy And Energizing Breakfast

Another great way to kickstart your day is with a healthy breakfast. Your breakfast should consist of protein, healthy fats, and complex carbs for best results.

Protein is the building block of the body, we need it for so many reasons such as hair and nail growth, muscles, and much more. You can get a good amount of proteins from foods such as eggs, dairy, meats, beans, nuts, and many other healthy foods.

Complex Carbohydrates help to provide you with long lasting energy. Compared to simple carbs, a good amount of complex carbs are slower to digest and steadily provide the body with energy without the subsequent crash that simple carbs such as juice, soda, and other sugary foods and drinks can cause.

Try adding whole grain toast or a bowl of oats to your breakfast to help you get those healthy carbs in!

Healthy fats are the best brain food around. Fat is needed for so many processes that go on in the body including the delivery of hormones, brain function, and even muscle growth. That’s right, fat plays a role in muscle growth too, not just protein. Healthy fats are also beneficial for fat loss. Many people think that fat makes you fat, but that’s just not the case. 4. Get Some Morning Exercise

6. Rise And Shine

Literally, the shine part of “rise and shine” is another amazing thing that will help you wake your body and brain up in the morning. So, open those curtains and let the sunshine in because it’s the signal that tells your body’s internal clock to wake up and go.

Eat your breakfast outside or even take your workout outdoors and take in all the beautiful sunshine to help energize your day and get you going.

Sunshine triggers the body to produce Vitamin D. This vitamin is essential for overall health and can even help prevent depression, inflammation, and certain types of cancer. Getting your proper dose of sunshine is definitely a healthy way to start your day.
